Job Position: Head of Marketing

Job Location: Lagos

Job Description

  • We are looking for a results-driven and innovative Head of Marketing to lead the marketing efforts of our liquor distribution company.
  • The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the liquor industry, a strong track record of developing successful marketing strategies, and the ability to drive brand awareness and sales growth in a highly competitive market.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute comprehensive marketing strategies to promote our portfolio of liquor brands and drive brand awareness
  • Lead the marketing team in the planning and implementation of marketing campaigns, promotions, and events to increase brand visibility and market share
  • Develop and spearhead the marketing strategy, collaborate with the managing director and leadership team, and engage with other key internal stakeholders to ensure alignment of the business marketing strategy with the company’s overall strategy
  • Drive efforts to support business objectives aimed at increasing revenue, enhance influence, and boosting the adoption of the company’s products
  • Oversee the development of marketing collateral and digital assets to support sales and brand initiatives
  • Stay informed about industry regulations and compliance requirements related to marketing and advertising of alcoholic beverages
  • Compile and analyse customer insights, market trends, and competitive landscape to identify business opportunities to further solidify our leading position in Beverages and Personal Care Categories
  • Collaborate with suppliers, vendors, and partners to develop co-marketing initiatives and promotional programs
  • Analyze market trends, consumer behavior, and competitor activities to identify opportunities for differentiation and innovation
  • Manage the marketing budget effectively to maximize ROI and ensure cost efficiencies to grow market share
  • Utilize data analytics and marketing metrics to track campaign performance and optimize marketing strategies
  • To dynamically manage all aspects of our brand and image, both internally and externally

Brand Management and Engagement:

  • Develop and implement an approach to brand management and engagement that inspires, encourages and monitors alignment with the brand strategy across the organisation
  • Develop brand guidelines, resources and templates that equip staff with the skills and tools they need to work effectively
  • Represent brands on project teams for key initiatives and brand opportunities
  • Collaborate with stakeholders throughout the organisation to ensure that strategies, campaigns and activities across all departments enhance our public image as well as resonate with external stakeholders and key opinion leaders
  • Ensure that the organisation’s purpose and impact are effectively communicated and understood across all owned, earned and paid channels
  • Promote best practice and innovation in brand development within the Marketing function
  • Develop brand promotion concepts for key account programs

Educational Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree: In Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Master’s Degree (Preferred): An MBA or a master’s in marketing or a related discipline

Professional Experience:

  • Extensive Marketing Experience: At least twelve years of experience in marketing, with a significant portion in the FMCG sector, particularly in beverages and cosmetics.
  • Leadership Experience: Proven track record of at least seven years in a senior marketing role, such as Marketing Manager, Director of Marketing, or similar

Industry Knowledge:

  • FMCG Expertise: Deep understanding of the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) industry, especially in the beverages and cosmetics segments.
  • Market Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of the Nigerian market, including regional differences, consumer behavior, and competitive landscape.

Key Skills:

  • Strategic Planning: Ability to develop and execute comprehensive marketing strategies aligned with business goals
  • Brand Management: Expertise in building and managing strong brands, with experience in both product and corporate branding
  • Data Analysis: Strong analytical skills to interpret market data, measure campaign effectiveness, and make data-driven decisions
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling messages and present ideas effectively
  • Project Management: Strong project management skills to oversee innovative marketing campaigns from conception to execution

Technical Skills:

  • Marketing Tools: Proficiency in using marketing automation tools, CRM software, and data analytics platforms
  • Microsoft Office Suite: Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

Professional Certifications (Preferred):

  • Marketing Certifications: Certifications from recognized bodies such as the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) or the American Marketing Association (AMA).
  • Digital Marketing Certifications: Certifications in digital marketing, such as Google Analytics, Google Ads, HubSpot, or Facebook Blueprint.
